South Beach Wine and Food Festival schedule

Culinary Conversation -- The Relationship between Spanish Chefs and Scientists: With Daniel Garcia, first chef to incorporate liquid nitrogen into cooking; Katsuya Fukushima, culinary director of ThinkFoodGroup; Ruben Garcia, director of Research & Development of ThinkFoodGroup; Josh Ozersky, restaurants editor for Citysearch, and moderator Harold McGee, author of the On Food & Cooking; 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Biltmore Hotel, 1200 Anastasia Ave., Coral Gables; $95.
Taste Wine Like a Master Sommelier: Learn to identify varietals and styles from master sommeliers Eric Hemer and Serafin Alvarado of Southern Wine & Spirits, Laura DePasquale of Palm Bay Imports, Brian Koziol of VineOne and Juan Gomez of Flagler Steak House at The Breakers; 1 to 3 p.m., Miami Beach Convention Center, 1901 Convention Center Dr., Miami Beach; $175.
Screaming Eagle -- A Look at One Oakville Terroir: With Ursula Hermacinski, senior editor of Wine Spectator magazine; 5 to 6 p.m., Miami Beach Convention Center, 1901 Convention Center Dr., Miami Beach; $1,000.
Perrier-Jouet BubbleQ: Hosted by Chef Tom Colicchio and featuring meats, seafood, Champagne Perrier-Jouet and sweets. Begins with VIP reception at 7 p.m., followed by general admission at 7:30 p.m. and continues to 11 p.m., Delano Hotel, 1685 Collins Ave., South Beach; $450 VIP reception (SOLD OUT), $350 general admission.
Wine Spectator's Best of the Best (SOLD OUT): Features chefs including Alfred Portale, Scott Conant, Alan Yau and Sean O'Connell, wine and food stations and a silent auction; 7:30 to 11 p.m., Fontainebleau Miami Beach, 4441 Collins Ave., Miami Beach; $350.
Harrah's Casino Night: Paula Deen hosts a Las Vegas-style casino party; 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.; Paris Theater, 550 Washington Ave., Miami Beach; $150.

I just saw Al Rouker covering this one on the Today Show. Must be good! He LOVES food!

I have had friends who have attended. It is very expensive and you get to see a lot of beautiful people and food. Unfortunately, the last time I was at the condo during the Fest, I couldn't get anyone to go with me and wouldn't go down there by myself.

I understand how you feel about going alone. I feel the same.
Peoples' own schedules often don't jive with mine. But it's just not as fun going alone.

I understand Mario Batali insulted a bunch of folks while there. I think he is an amazing chef and most likely a super taster.
