Is a Dukane worth it? Anybody have any experience with commercial stoves and ovens?

Anybody? Wifey wants a new kitchen and a new European bathroom. For the bathroom, looks like the only place to get Geberit devices is on ebay. Check them out - the tanks are in the wall, and the throne bolts flush to the wall. A dual flush has a smaller button for, um, #1, and a large button for a larger flush for #2.

But back to kitchens. She wants a commercial stove with heavy cast iron parts. And of course, everything else to match it.

We had an in the ground Dukane gas grill. It was great. built like a tank. Just clean it up once a year.

Wish I had dug it up when we moved.

I looked at a Viking. 7500 for a gas 6 burner and stove, in Stainless trim. What can possibly make this worth so much. Jeesh, for 7500 I could cast my own top plates, CNC my own burners, and shear and brake my own trim.

Hmmmmmmm.............................

Hey Waybomb - did the missus ever talk you into the new stove and the wall-bolted throne?

Yes! Took advantage of Whirlpool world HQ being just across the river, and a factory sponsored "C" and "B" and Demo appliance center nearby. Bought KitchenAid Stainless Steel designer II built in refrigerator, 2 drawer dishwasher, 46 bottle wine cooler, 50 pound-per-day ice maker, a JennAir Stainless Steel range, a Jenn Air microwave. Put an additional layer of 18" wall cabinets above the existing 30" ones, got a new one hole sink, a new garbage disposal, and a commercial one hole faucet (the type with the large spring on top) Got a new undercounter fridge for the bar area ($350 for a $1,200 KitchenAid), and a new sink and faucet. We were going to go with a Blue Coral Granite counter top, but have now decided to have a one piece custom stainless steel counter top made. My kid is in fabrication, and he is going to make it for us. All the grain in the SS will align, and no welds will be visible. While acquiring all this stuff, also bought a new-to-me KitchenAid grill with a sear burner. I sold my previous KitchenAid grill for what I paid for the newer one. All told, including the outdoor grill, I spent about $4500 for appliances that had I bought them at a dealer, would have cost well into the mid $20,000. The counter top is going to cost me two sheets of stainless and some MDF for underneath - maybe a total of $1000 for the counter top (the shop has done these before and mine would have cost over $5000). The new cabininets on top, plumbing stuff, etc, cost another 2200 or so. I am also adding indirect and direct lighting to the kitchen which cost me chump change. So we'll have a kitchen worth about $35,000 for less than $8,000. As for the bathroom, am amassing materials to start the job after the kitchen is done. When it is, I'll post a picture

Damn! That sounds amazing, Fred! I remember Bams (I think) talking about the Whirlpool demo center up there. Your kitchen is going to be dynamite! I anxiously await the pics.....
