The Battleship Texas at
ext.png
3527 Battleground Road in La Porte, Texas. A red-haired, smiling sailor who died while on duty, occasionally appears on the second deck. The ship is reportedly haunted by a friendly ghost, reportedly a red-headed sailor who appears on one of the many decks. [http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/spdest/findadest/parks/battleship_texas/]

I have been on this ship many times, never saw any spooks. It is a very nice tour though. Visit the San Jacinto Monument also its close by. They have a nice museum. CF:smile:

It's just a short drive down I45 to Seawolf park in Galveston to the berths of the USS CAVALLA (WWII Submarine) and the USS STEWART (destroyer escort - one of only 3 in the world.

Ahhhh, memories...I've been on the Battleship many times too and have never seen the red-haired sailor. I've also been to Seawolf Park and toured the Elissa. Kids really like the Battleship. It just won't be the same if they put it on a big ol' block of cement :(.

Jim, never been to Seawolf Park. But will next time I am down that way. Matter of fact I didn't even know it was there at all. I don't get out much any more. I would love to see the sub, also would love some fresh seafood. CF

Cooksie mentioned the Elissa, that's worth a visit too along with the Strand and the RR Museum in the old RR Station at the end of Strand Blvd.

We enjoy Hill's Pier 19 for lunch, not fancy at all but good food.

I'm from the Wichita Falls area, worked in Dallas for 20 years with a few years in Houston.
