Ok I know a bunch of us have the pleasure of living in or traveling through the Garden State. Heads Up

STATE POLICE - NJ TICKETING

Here's the latest NJ State Police Initiative (Radio Station 101.5 FM confirmed this info).

Starting today , New Jersey will launch a 30-day speeding ticket frenzy. The state estimates that 9 million dollars will be generated in speeding tickets. One million dollars will go to pay state troopers over-time.

There will be 50 state troopers on duty at all times patrolling the 9 main intersections and highways as follows:

I-295 North and South,

I-95 Jersey Turnpike North and South

I-80 East and West

I-287 North and South

I-78 East and West

I-195 East and West

I-280 East and West

Route 130 - North and South

Garden State Parkway - North and South

5 MPH above the limit can justify a ticket and every state trooper is supposed to pull a car over and

write a ticket every 10 to 20 minutes.

They have issued 30 brand new unmarked Crown Victoria cruisers and are bringing in all of their part-timers on full time. If you work in NJ, NY, DE or CT, you will probably be on one of these highways. So, please be on guard and drive safely!

Starting August 15 , the price of a violation to show your driver's license, registration or insurance card at the time you are stopped , increased from $44.00 to $173.00. (Keep these documents in your car) . And the fine for not having all three documents is $519.00!

The fine for hand-held cell phone use while driving will be going up to $180.00.

Please forward this to people in N.J. and let them know of this latest Police Initiative.

:lol::yum::lol:

PA does that once in a while. At least once a year. They do the DUI roadblock thing, too. They let you know it's coming, then hit it hard for usually one weekend or all week.

Just joking about the Joisey thing.... you know that :whistling:

Thanks Pancho - I was also told that they prefer to stop pickups and trucks in general, they feel there are more chances of finding "extra credit" tickets.

Have those charges with protecting us been turned against us for revenue enhancement?

Don't forget that seatbelt.

When I lived there we called it "Taxylvania"! Glad I can use the past tense.

I think it's an excellent idea for gained revenue.
They could make a mint here, anytime, any day, on any road.
With all the out of staters, not a whole lot of contesting, either.

Ill be heading into jersey this weekend, so thanks for the heads up. Dont want any weekend spoilers.. Last ticket I got was somehwere between NYC and Niagara Falls. I was only an hour or two away from the falls when I got pulled over. Worse than the ticket, was the " i told you so" I got from my wife when the whole ride she was asking if I wanted her to drive. My reply to her was, No , because if you drive we will never get their. 5 minutes later, sirens and lights in the rear view mirror and that look on my wifes face ( you guys know the look Im talking about, part pissed off, part I told u so grin) My daughter ( about5 at the time) was crying asking if they were going to take me to jail :). My biggest fear was that Id have to return to god only knows where to pay for the ticket. Turns out just mailed it in, and that was it. So no more tickets for me ( I hope)
