I thought I was going to have to mix some of this up last night to rub onto my pork butts, but, I still had some.
Allen’s BBQ Spice Rub
Yields: 1 c
2 T salt
2 T sugar
2 T brown sugar
2 T ground cumin
2 T black pepper
4 T chili powder
2 T paprika
Blend together and store in an airtight container.

Hmmm, regular sugar and brown sugar.....

Have you guys tried Turbinado Sugar or Sugar in the Raw? It's sugar with a much higher flash point than white or brown sugar. Therefore it will not burn as quickly when used in a rub. I highly recommend it.
Also, I never put salt in my rubs. I salt separately. Allows me to control the salt a little better. I never use garlic salt, onion salt, etc. Basically, if say I'm doing ribs. Pull them out of the marinade, pat dry, sprinkle some coarse salt on each side and apply the rub.
