Welcome aboard Mike. I just made a statement to The BoardSmith that there wasn't much action in the tools section. Maybe that's gonna change. Check out this picture thread (http://www.netcookingtalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1366). Great place to start if you haven't seen it.

Hi Mike and welcome. I always wanted to visit the Upper Penninsula, I've heard the summers are beautiful. I only made it as far north as Saginaw where I lived less than a year.
Hope you enjoy it here.
Oh man there went the neighborhood. :yankchain: Just joking Mike hope you find it fun over here.

Thanks for the Warm Welcome.
I'll try to cover some of the questions.
I live in Gladstone and my plant is in Escanaba--they are about 5 minutes apart.
I guess that is about 3 hours from the Soo.
The Summers are indeed Beautiful here but you have to let your eyes recover from the Snow Blindness from the Very Long Winters here.
We call August the 5 weeks of Bad Snowmobiling.
I am Not Actually a Yooper.
I moved here in 1997 and am still considered an Outsider.
I guess that makes me a Yooper in Training.
As I said--We make knives.
Most of my Family are Knifemakers and two of my children work in the Trade with us. My Son Jimmy is a Knifemaker and is in charge of Assembly at the plant. He does have his own line of sporting knives and is always a bit Backordered but he also goes to Collage two days a week.
My Daughter Jacquie also goes to collage two days a week and works in Our leather and Sheath shop. She also does all of the Engraving and hand carving of our custom leather sheaths. Jacquie Gets her artistic talents from Mom.
My Wife Lesley is my partner and runs all of the Important Stuff at the plant. She not only does all of the Accounting--she heads up our final inspection--cleaning of each knife--marking--shipping and receiving.
There are 17 of us in the company and we make between 75 and 125 Knives per day.
We make mostly Sporting knives. We do make some Military Knives and some Kitchen Knives but the Backbone of the company is Hunting and Bushcraft Stuff.
I didn't come here to sell anyone anything.
We never have any knives anyway.
We are always 4 to 6 months Backordered so every knife we make-- every day-- goes right out the door to our distributor network.
I came here because I really enjoy cooking and would like to share what I know and learn more from folks with the same passions and interests.
I would be happy to answer knife questions but kitchen knives are a very Subjective Subject.
I really came here for the Food Stuff.
Thanks again for the Welcome.
