View Full Version : What's a good brand of frozen pizza?
Sometimes I just feel like having a quick frozen pizza and they all look so good on the package.
What's your favorite brand?

If I buy frozen, I buy DiGorno. As an alternative, it is very easy to pick up ready made dough (It freezes) ready made sauce and throw veggies meats and cheese on it. About the same time, way better taste.

I'm not much of a frozen pizza fan but the DiGiorno stuff crust ones aren't too bad.

I never buy frozen pizzas. Here in Foley, AL we have a Papa Murphay's. They make fresh pizzas to be baked at home. In fact they don't have an oven. Best pizzas I have ever eaten.

Sorry, I don't like any of them.
I keep naan bread in the freezer, and when I want a quick pizza, I lightly brown one side in a skillet, flip it, and add toppings. Put a lid on to help melt the cheese while the other side browns a little.
It's sooooooo much better.
I agree Lee, the pictures on the boxes all look good. Over the years I've tried most of them and I'm always disappointed. About the only thing we buy frozen is veggies.
SS, what an idea. :thumb: Like Andy, we will do the dough and fresh toppings on occasion. So much better than any frozen pizza I've found.

Personally, I'm not a big fan of frozen pizzas. I'd much rather have a fresh pizza (especially considering where I live). However, sometimes they come in handy for a quick snack. I recently bought a Freschetta Naturally Rising Pizza and I have to say it's the best frozen pizza I've tasted.

Lee,
LaDawg's post gave me an idea. Get dough, stretch it out put toppings, sauce, cheese, etc, on it and freeze that. When you want a pizza pull one out and go for it.
Someone else pointed out about the thin crust DiGorno. That is my preference too. the thicker crusts tend to be mushy.

Not the Freschetta.
When I order a pizza here though, I do like the places that make the thinner crusts better. Mmmm Sciortinos! Love that place!

Another vote for California Pizza Kitchen, four cheese blend is good. Sometimes I cut them in half or fourths and just cook what I want. The crust really does come out thin and crispy if you cook it like the box says--no pan, directly on the oven rack.
Hey, thanks for the great replies, everyone!
In my area just north of Boston, we have great pizza places on every corner, and I know where the best ones are, and they all deliver.
I also have a pizza stone and pizza peel and occasionally make my own delicious pizzas.
HOWEVER, I very much appreciate the recommendations listed to try for quick frozen pizzas - my neighborhood supermarket has all you've mentioned so I will get a couple to keep in the freezer.
Thanks again!
