I've got a question about what your preferences would be; what you think people would do....

If you were traveling to relatives' homes for Thanksgiving and they just so happened to be in the suburbs of a metropolitan city, a city with lots of stuff to do, would you head into that city on Friday or Saturday??

I'm asking because I don't know whether to open Friday or Saturday, both or neither.

Red Gravy is in the CBD, central business district. Many of my customers are business professionals. Offices will be closed on Friday, so I don't expect much in the way of business professionals on Friday. However, I'm also on the border of the French Quarter, and am surrounded by 5 major hotels (sheraton, marriot, westin, hilton, etc), so I could have tourist business...which I also normally get a fair share of.

I'm on a really good roll here, having had the last two days with standing room only for a short time. A convention was in (anthropologists) and I did banner business...

So, what do you think? I'd like to have more time to visit with my son, but I don't want to loose money, either. I am considering two days (friday and saturday) of just my regular saturday brunch menu...

Have you met anyone working at the hotels who would give you a heads-up on whether or not they are very booked up for the weekend? That could be a clue.

How about the folks in the restaurant across the street that noticed you had their Friday lunch customers? Would they be willing to share info with you?

As much as we all would love to help you, I think your CBD neighbors will be able to give you better info than we can. Whatever you decide, you've shown an uncanny sense of the place - I'm sure you'll make the right choice!

SS has given sage advice, as usual.

But to answer your question, yes, I would definitely head into the city on those days if I was visiting, but I'd go after breakfast.

I'd be looking for lunch.

I'm thinking of doing my brunch on Friday, and just opening early for breakfast on Saturday for the Saint's game.

Brunch today was over a hundred tickets!! Only open 5 hours!!!!!

holy shit.

I think your hours are a good idea. If it is busy, you can always go for "extra innings".

Friday is Black Friday, and everybody and their brother will be out and about shopping. Black Friday starts as early as 6am with people lining up as early as 4am, so breakfast isn't out of the question, lunch should definitely be a hit!

Personally, if I was visiting another city, I'd stay home Thursday and then go out Friday and Saturday - especially Friday!

I imagine Fri & Sat will be rather busy, especially with all the Black Friday sales going on.
