Do you have anything going on in your area for the weekend?
Fairs, Carnivals, Cooking Contests, Bake Offs, BBQs, Grilling/Smoking contests?
Hopefully we can keep this running thru the year. Especially when the weather starts warming up for you Yanks.

Rub it in rub it in.
Good idea though. In the summer there are tons of events in Philly and surroundings I will try to carry a camera
FooD will again fire up the grill at Park Drive Bar & Grill this weekend, even though the forecast calls for continued wet weather. That's the only known event happening in Mi Barrio this weekend.

I was a judge in a rodeo cook-off last weekend. The judges are all volunteers. The judging is subjective. How could it be otherwise? If you get a chance to do this, then volunteer. It's great fun.

Cool simplicity. And free samples to boot if you're a judge!
What kind of cook off was it? What won?

It was a rodeo cook-off. There are different categories - ribs, chili, chicken, etc. I like to judge in the "open". That's for things that don't fit anywhere else, mostly fish and seafood. I don't know what won but I liked the sea scallops best. They don't give out their recipes.
The perks are that the judges are given special wristbands. After we've finished our work (sampling good food) we are allowed to wander over the grounds and visit other cooking teams who often allow us to sample their cooking. Many have been been up all night preparing their dishes on some very elaborate equipment. Free beer is abundant, but I'm not a beer drinker and couldn't find a cup of coffee anywhere.
It was a beautiful day to be outside with old friends and a few new ones, sampling some really great food.
If you have a chance, do something like this. It's fun,
