Definitely chinese. We don't really have a lot of good chinese food here in San Antonio and I don't get take-out that often but still, it's my first choice.

I voted Asian because I love Chinese too, I am in the same boat as you no good places to order out from. Pizza is a close second.

Uh oh, I didn't see the poll. OK, I voted Asian, too. That's funny you mention pizza because that's probably what we get most often for take-out. We have a really good place about a block from here that we've been ordering from for years. It's funny cuz I always did the ordering when we first moved here so all the orders were under my name. Eventually, they started throwing in extra breadsticks, etc. because I was a good customer. But usually one of my kids or hubby would actually go pick it up. Later, whenever anyone else would call in the order, they would put it in under my name cuz they knew me. A couple of years ago, one of the guys there finally asked "What's the deal - are all of you named Terry"?

It's Chinese for us. We go to a little place just down the street. They have got the best eggrolls. The best I've ever had! Everything else is great too.
The pizza places around here suck.

We really really don't have much choice around here... a few Chinese places and a few hamburger and a few Mexican...and Pizza... but none of them very good. If there were a good Chinese place I'd pick that!!
We have a little take out only Chinese take out up the street that puts P K Chang's to shame. Really excellent food at a great price and a lot of it.

I take-out Chinese or Japanese food the most. It is hard for me to eat Italian food now because of food allergies.

I had to go with Italian since pizza is in that catagory. If I'm not ordering pizza, it's Chinese or sushi.

We do have a coupla so-called Chinese joints here, but we usually raid their buffet. For takeout, it's Papa Murphy's Pizza. It's a take'n'bake chain. Great pizzas and almost half the price of Pizza Hut.

Definitely Chinese here. Although, it’s said that the Chinese we eat here is “Americanized” and not at all like what they eat in China. Oh well, I still love it!

I'm actually pretty lucky to have a Chinese/Japanese/Sushi takeout-deliver all-in-one. :D

i'd have to say asian, since 3 of our regular takeouts are japanese (sushi and other), chinese, and thai.
we also regularly takeout pizza/italian, ribs/steaks/chops, tex-mex, indian and malaysian (yeah, they're southern asian, i guess), polish/slovak, middle eastern, and greek.
it's good to be a new yorker. :thumb:
jeeks, we have a chinese - italian - mexican take out near us.
the chinese is very good; the mexican also pretty good. i haven't had the nerve to try the italian yet. seems just too weird.

I'm sure that's true Keltin... the Greek we get here in NOTHING like the Greek we get in Greece and the MEXICAN we get here in NOTHING like the Mexican we get in Mexico unless you go to a place over run with tourists that has been Americanized.
While I like Chinese and we get it carry out more than my favorite, mainly because it's closer and cheaper I voted for the 'other' category.
I doubt that most of you have heard of Daemon's Ribs but they make darn good ribs and outstanding onion loaf. On occasion we will call and order it to go. They also have dining inside with a big ole clubhouse with 5 GIANT screens. We like to go there to watch the 1st and 2nd day of the NCAA basketball tourney every March. It's a fun place to go to and a good place to get carryout from on occasion.

Our choice are pretty limited as well, and if we were to drive in to Omaha, its predominantly "chain" restaraunts-they seem to have overrun this area.
I voted for chinese simply because it's what we get more often than any other, and we get it more often because its the most convenient!
One more reason to "cook it yourself"!!:thumb:

I can't really call it Italian, so I voted for "other" since my take out staple (ok, it's actually delivery) is pizza.
Then from there we have Chinese, Thai, and coney dogs. Yeah... I eat really healthy

Hey Doc, we have Damon's here also. It's right across from my mom's ass't living and we stop in there quite often. Their onion loaf is to die for! Their ribs are good.

Judging by the choices I am ASSuming you don't mean fast food.... That limits me, since I haven't gotten take out in six years or so. I used to get pizzas, or wings when I lived in "the city". I am now takeout deprived, but I didn't want you to think I was ignoring your poll Lefty

I have ticked Asian. It's a bit more precise tahn that. I particularly like Indian take aways.

Just had some Chinese the other night.
For a small town it's very good, we're about 40 min out of the twin cities which has quite a large Asian population.
DH used to work delivery for a company that supplies food exclusively to Asian resaturants, so he also knows which are ok to eat and which to call the Health Dept on......

My favorite take-out place is a supermarket, HEB (Central Market). There is a large area called "Cafe On The Run". The display cases are filled with already prepared meats and seafood. They also have fresh fruit, vegetables- usually roasted, salads, soups and sauces. A bakery is about 10 feet away, along with a sushi bar and an olive bar.
It's great when my mental cooking file is empty.

seafood
Thanks for reminding me, I know this would not be an option for many folks but we have some great seafood take out places. I can get lobster, clams, crabs, scallops, hadock and shrimp less than a mile from home.
