I know there are some really not-so-bright folks out there. But this is in the upper-percentile! :yum:

DALLAS – Even the most veteran Dallas police officers have never heard of a crime like the one a fellow officer encountered over the weekend.
John Lewis Johnson, 18, tried to carjack a Dallas police sergeant who was driving a marked patrol car with its emergency lights on, said Dep. Chief Rick Watson.
Investigators told News 8 that Johnson first tried to carjack three other drivers in southwest Dallas Saturday afternoon.
When DPD responded to calls for help, Johnson reappeared unarmed and dressed in different clothing from what witnesses described. He opened the patrol car’s passenger door and demanded the officer’s weapon and police car, Watson said.
“Well it was at that time that Sgt. Charles Young grabbed the suspect’s arm,” Watson said. “The suspect yanked away from him and proceeded to run. Sgt. Young gave chase, and a short distance later apprehended the suspect without incident.”
It’s uncertain if Johnson was under the influence of anything.
He refused a medical test, Watson said.
Johnson is in the Dallas County jail charged with four counts of robbery and one count of retaliation for threatening one of the initial attempted carjacking victims if she called police.
No one was hurt.

I read the other day that according to the FBI 80% of crime in the U.S. is gang related. It wouldn't surprise me if this guy was intentionally trying to get locked up to be back with his homies...

They have it easy in prison these days. A lot easier than on the streets...

I do not lbow how cold it is in Dallas, in NYC /NJ getting arrested in the winter for 3 hots and a cot is common.

Panchohombre - Did you know that the stocks were sometimes fatal due to reprisals from citizens?
