Marshmallow Chocolate Pear Pudding

I wasn't sure how this would turn out, :unsure: I don't usually eat puddings. But we had family round for dinner & I had to come up with something!! They ate it all..."whew" I did a hot chocolate sauce to pour over the top.

Serves 6
Prep Time 10 mins
Cooking Time 30 mins
Ingredients

1 kg Pears in natural juice
125g Plain (all purpose) flour
125g Caster (superfine) sugar
25g Cocoa powder
150g Butter, softened or low fat spread
1 Tsp Baking powder
2 Tsp Vanilla extract
1/4 Tsp Bicarbonate of soda
2 Large free range eggs
2 Handfuls of mini marshmallows
Method

Drain the juice from the pears and lay them in rows on the base of the dish
Either beat the eggs and add the flour, sugar bicarbonate of soda, baking powder, vanilla extract, cocoa powder and softened butter using a whisk or blitz the ingredients in a food processor
Finally stir in the mini marshmallows
Pour the mix over the pears
Bake for 30 minutes in a preheated oven
Allow to cool slightly before serving
Serve with fresh cream or vanilla ice cream

When I saw the title, I expected to see something creamy, more like a very soft custard. I forgot that puddings in England are different than puddings in the US. It appears the texture is like a cake? Is that so?

Putting the pears with the chocolate was a great idea!:clap:

Thanks SS, yes it is like a cake texture but squidgy & softer.
and yes, we do call it a pudding lol
we speak the same tongue but not the same language lol

How confusing for everyone...:brows:

I went into a supermarket in Miami & asked for a joint of beef, which is quite normal for us to say here, as it's a lump of beef meat....it was some time before the guy realised I was talking about meat!!!:yum::yum:
