Well here is an copy of the after operation on her wrist take this week. Now this is with the remaining bones in place now as well as the cadaver putty and supper glue. They removed her cast, made sure no infection and treated where the wires come through the flesh and put a new KY blue cast on it. Her next appointment is 4 weeks and this is 2 weeks after the surgery. The bright lines are the wires through her arm holding the bones couple of bones in place large enough to get with the rest left for the body to eventually eat up.

I can't sleep tonight but really not unusual for me. Dawn is doing pretty good aside from periodic pain from it which the pain pill really don't stop. She can handle it though as you know she is a tough old bird.

Glad to see the healing is coming along okay, Joe. Too bad it's such a long process. Give my best to Dawn.

My best to Dawn and wishes for her to heal quickly and the pain to subside.

I suppose they eventually pull the wires?

OMG, joe! Poor Dawn!

I knew about her badly broken wrist, but a picture is worth ... etc.

That looks SO painful!

Positive and healing energies being sent Dawn's way!

I'm glad she's doing well!

BT my wife also has some cadaver bone in her spine from her neck surgery. It was that or take bone from her hip which would have essentially been two surgeries. Dawn's case is probably different, using cadaver tissue is not uncommon.

Yes I had never thought about as the stuff didn't exist when I had my accident as a kid. They use a form of super glue after they put in the putty. This was all done without any cutting as the pins are like needles.

They remove the wires once the bones are "healed".

Thanks for you wishes folks.

Ouch, ouch, ouch - that looks soooo painful, Joe. When the healing is finally done, will her wrist be as good as new or will it always be weaker and prone to fracture?

That I don't know FM. The doctor said it will take some physical therapy after it heals. Now she just went through a bone density test and was informed that her left hip is the weakest in her body. The put her on some medication for her bone density, mostly vitamins and will retest in a few weeks. She has the typical osteoporosis women get at her age, especially after having 4 kids as young as she did. It does take its toll on you women. Men get it also but nothing like most women do.

She is driving me nuts, with wanting to get going. She was scheduled to get a CCDW license two days after she broke it and had to cancel the class. She has been wanting to get one now for a long time though I've had one for years. I even bought her a new gun for it but she can't do much with her left hand right now. I will say though her right hand signature has gotten pretty good with all the practice.

Jeez Joe I had no idea anything was going on (then again I have been gone a long time too). So sorry to hear about this, but glad everything seems to be progressing along well.
My best wishes to her and you.
