I'm in the hospital

Earlier this week I told the mods about my visit to the ER. Tightness / weird feeling in the chest. They found I had high blood pressure but no heart attack. Blood work and EKG were okay. They wanted to keep me for observation but I felt okay and didn't want to stay so I signed myself out AMA (against medical advise). Tonight I check my blood pressure and it was sky high. I felt fine but the BP was 190 over 87. Back to the hospital I go. Still some tightness in the chest, and high BP. They checked me out and again advised me to stay for observation and to figure out what the heck is going on. So ..... here I am in a hospital bed with my laptop fired up (my wife just shook her head when I packed up the laptop to bring along. LOL) It's therapy, right?

I'll be around as I can. Good thoughts and prayers appreciated.

Hang in there, Greg. This time stay there and let the other "docs" get some observation time so they can get to the root cause of your problem and get you fixed up. Prayers for you and your health tonight.

I am sad to read this, Greg, but glad you are at the hospital while they get this straightened out. You go ahead and get some sleep. We'll keep you surrounded in prayers and good thoughts. Get well soon, my friend.

Hey Doc - do what they say, this is nothing to fool with. All of us here have your back.

By the way, I hear that Vera has a nurses outfit.

HEY! We want him healed, not hurt (at least not right now:yum:).

Get well Greg. Hate to see Sushi try to make an end run on your forums while you're under the weather.

Hang in there Doc, they seem to have ways to control it with a pill or two a day.

just take it slow and easy, doc. your diastolic is borderline, even though your systolic is very high. the diastolic is the most important, so i hope it's not too bad.

our well wishes are somewhat selfish, though. we don't need to go looking for another forum.

here's one to tell your nurses: a new nurse in the burn unit in a hospital, after looking at all of the charts on the patients beds, had a strange question for the doctor. she asked, "doc, i understand why you've prescribed the pain killers and antibiotics to all of the patients, but why is there a large dosage of viagra given to each the male patients?"

the doctor replied, "it's the best method for keeping sheets off of the burns..."

THANKS Everyone!!!!!!!!
I'm out of the hospital and feeling better. They even allowed me to walk out on my own rather than ride in a wheel chair.
It was my BP meds. They were not doing the job. I had EKG's and a stress test and more. My ticker is doing just fine. My BP meds were a low dose according to my doctor so he up'd those and added one that removes sodium from my system (it only cost 60 cents for a 30 day supply. :thumb:).
All is good!
Thanks again for your concern, advice, good thoughts and prayers. It means a lot to me and helped me get through this whole ordeal.
Cheers to all!!!!!!

(that reminds me, doc said to drink red wine instead of beer!!!! Beer has sodium in it!!!!! Who would have thunk it????)

YAY!!!! Great news, Doc - welcome home!

Lee

P.S. Give up beer? Isn't that what BP medication is FOR??!!

This is the best news ever! My husband has high BP and it is very salt dependent. Pretty much, he just can't add any salt to anything or it shoots up. He likes the red wine, though.

Doc, glad you're home.

I'm on three different bp medications and they occasionally need adjusting. I check my bp every morning and evening.

Watch the salt and caffeine, those cause a lot of problems.

Thanks guys. I get out of the hospital and the database goes flakey. Coincidence? :yum: All is better now and I've already spent some quality time on the dreaded treadmill today. The sun is shining and spring it on the way. A great day to be out and about. (Don't tell anyone, but I played hooky from work today shhhhhh :D )

The treadmill???? Wow - this is serious. Of course, you could kill 2 birds with one stone and drink the red wine while walking on the treadmill.

I hate doing the treadmill so I only let myself start a new movie while I'm on it. I'm also thinking about Books on Tape (or CD). What do you do on the treadmill, Doc?

So pleased you are feeling better, such good news!
Thanks Vera. I really wasn't feeling that bad before, but saw my blood pressure was up and that tightness in the chest sure got my attention.

I worked harder on the treadmill yesterday during my stress test. I did get my heart rate up to the recommended level.

...and what do i do while on the treadmill ...I finally got a TV hooked up so I do what all guys do ...channel surf. :yum: Daytime TV is so bad it's even hard to have fun channel surfing as all I have is basic cable where the treadmill is.
