I am shopping for a small vacuum for my PC. Do any of you techies have a suggestion? I am tired of using canned air to blow the mess around.

BTW, yesterday was national clean up your PC day.

TIA

How small Lefty? Carry in your pocket? How about a Dustbuster? Something like these? (http://www.target.com/b/190-1759974-6916839?node=12957271&AFID=google&CPNG=Vacuums%20Floor%20Care&LNM=dustbusters&LID=14588655&ref=tgt_adv_XSGT0318)

I agree that a large cloud of dirt blown out of a PC does no one any good. I would still suggest a "final touch" with the canned air to get the cooling fins on the CPU and chipset. Also places that a vacuum just will not reach.

a thousand years ago in place place I've long forgotten I found an "mini attachment" set - works great for the twice a year job.

looks a bit like:

With a vacuum...you must be careful about static. As I'm sure you know, you wouldn't want to drag yourself a shag carpet..and then reach out and touch your computers motherboard, heat sink, or video card....because surely you'd hear and feel a "zap".

N'Kay...so a vacuum...the end of wand, and those bristle hairs on the tip of the attachment...it ain't too different. So if you're bent on giving up on compressed air and wanting to get a vacuum, just make sure you place one hand on a good metal part of the computer case, so your body is in full contact/grounded with the case, and you leave the computer case plugged in...so it's grounded. (but obviously turned off)

I've seen, and used, those extra small vacuums....and IMO their suction power isn't sufficient to lift a cotton ball from the wifes bathroom countertop. Not to mention suck greasy lint off of the fans and heat sinks of a computer...because that stuff builds up in there quite stubbornly.

Interesting, thanks Cat. Maybe I won't tell Mrs. Cat on you. :yum:

Compressed air is it period. No vaccums! they can be harmful to the guts of your computer!
