OK! Nooooooooo cheating!!!! :glare:

You can NOT look at other recipes! You must just tell us what you think you should put in it and how you feel it should be made. You can give just approx. amounts.
It doesnt have to be your standard red BBQ sauce either!!!

Off the top of my head:

1) Decide what the base is going to be, either ketchup or mustard.
2) Saute some finely minced onions until very soft, but do not brown.
3) Add the "base".
4) Add some cider vinegar, or rice wine vinegar. (White vinegar is to harsh for my palate)
5) Season to taste with chili, brown sugar if ketchup / HFCS if mustard, liquid smoke, maybe some cumin, garlic, etc., all to taste!
6) Decide if you want a fruity overtone to the sauce. Apple cider works well, especially if you used cider vinegar. Peach/nectarine is also good. Add some juice/nectar along with the seasonings.
7) Simmer until flavors marry, about 20 minutes.
