I'm new here...
Having taught school for many years, I quit and explored some other options. I developed a "musical play experience" for very young children, going to home day cares with a 30-minute, developmentally appropriate music experience. Then, thinking I needed to do something else, I went to cooking school last year. It was a a school a couple of hours away, so lived on campus in an apartment, worked weekends as a prep cook. Well, by the end of the first semester, I was in a walking cast! I continued with school, but worked as a tutor second semester. I had an "interesting" experience at the school: rotten. In my opinion, they (instructors) were obnoxious, wannabe Gordon Ramseys, and quite rude. I didn't go back this year. I am now a substitute teacher, and I love it. I enjoy teaching, but really have no desire for a "career," so subbing is great. I can just walk away at the end of the day, and it pays really well for a J.O.B.
I have a masters in music education, play the violin, classically trained but now playing folk idioms. I play in a rockin' praise band at church with friends.
I have a GREAT husband, and terrific kids (although they have given me a fair share of grief and worry!!!) Eldest is serving in the Navy (pilot support) and just got married to a wonderful woman. 2nd child is still in school, took him awhile to figure it out, is a Div. II All-American athlete (Nordic skiing). Youngest, a daughter, recently gave away or sold all her worldly possessions and moved to Hawaii to work on an organic farm for room and board.
I also have a cooking blog, but haven't done much with it lately. It doesn't really have recipes, but has lots of photos and descriptions of what I'm up to in the kitchen. (and no ads)
I read cookbooks like novels, get ideas from them , then do what I want! I don't measure, unless baking. ha!
I live in the West, Rocky Mt. region. it's cold today, -14 w/windchill right now. Said hubby is out shoveling, again.
