Thanks Barb. Excellent job. And again, thanks Terry (FishersMom) for the GREAT work on these.

Tell us a little about yourself - your family or household, kids, pets, occupation, etc.

I am the second of four kids. I have and older brother and two younger brothers. I hardly ever see them unless there is a tragedy or emergency in the family. I find that really sad but I've accepted it.
I lost my dad to pancreatic cancer when I was 30. I lost my mom this past July. So now I am an orphan.
I graduated high school in 1972 and also graduated and passed my state boards in Cosmetology at the same time.
I met my husband, John while a senior in high school. We met in a bar (where else?)lol He was actually there to meet someone else but he and I just hit it off and have been together ever since. We dated for two years and married in April of 74. We were both 20 years old.
I have two children, Heather, 33 and Andrew, 19......YES, there is 14 years age difference. lol Two years after having Heather and before Andrew was born was a really tough time. I had numerous surgeries, tests, and a miscarriage before Andrew was born. He was a preemie weighing a tad over 5 lb. He is now 175 lb. and 6 ft. tall. Go figure!
I also have two beautiful grandsons. Justin, 8 and Kyle, 5. They are the love of my life.
I've worked at various jobs including beautician, receptionist, secretary to repairing and cleaning water coolers. John worked as a Sales Rep. and was out of town alot so I mainly stayed home with the kids. Eight years ago he went on disability due to back problems.

What part of the world do you live in?

I live in Mentor, Ohio. It's about 30 miles east of Cleveland. We've been here for 17 years. I actually grew up 1-1/2 miles from here in Mentor-on-the-Lake. I lived 7 houses from Lake Erie. DH and I hope to move to Costa Rica in the near future, mainly for his health.

How did you find the NCT community?

I found NCT through JoeV. I met him on the other site and he told me to check this site out. I'm so glad I did!

Do you have any hobbies besides cooking?

My other hobbies........yardwork and gardening is something I love to do. I get that from my Dad. I also enjoy doing small home repairs and decorating. I also bowl.

Give us 5 words that describe you.

1) caring 2) loyal 3) funny 4) stubborn 5) frugal

Tell us one thing about yourself that people would be surprised to know.

I used to write lots of poetry.

How and at what age did you start cooking?

I was probably about 10. We used to walk home for lunch from school and I would make lunch for my brothers. Shortly after that my mom went to work and I would get dinner started before she got home. Meatloaf and mashed potatoes was my first big meal. lol

Do you have a signature dish or one that you make especially well?

I thought of 3 so I asked my family their thoughts.........it was unanimous: spaghetti sauce.

What is your favorite spice?

What is your favorite restaurant meal?

Fine Kettle of Fish. It's from a local restaurant. Clams, mussels, whole lobster, crab legs, corn and broth.

What would your last meal be if you could choose anything at all?

Mussels, crab legs and lots of garlic bread.

If you could host a dinner party with 6 guests, living or dead, who would they be and what would you serve?

Mom, Dad, Grandmother, Godfather and my Great Aunt and Uncle. They're all gone now but they all had a great influence on my life. I would cook a turkey dinner.

If you were going to be stranded on an isolated island for a year, what 6 foods would you want to have to readily available?

1) Budweiser 2) Smokes 3) chocolate 4) grains 5) Beef 6) Salt

Who would you most like to prepare a meal for and why. What would you serve?

All the NCT members! Spaghetti and meatballs, salad and garlic bread...

Who would you most like to have prepare a meal for you?

Jaimie Oliver.........I like his natural way of cooking and besides he's nice to look at. lol

100 years from now, how would you like to be remembered?

Someone who put others before myself. That I was there for everyone that needed me, no questions asked. That I was a nice person.

Anything else you'd like to tell us about yourself?

The past 2-1/2 years have taken a toll on me with three influential people in my life passing away. I am trying really hard to take the experiences and become a better person and live life to the fullest!
I love my Budweiser!! LOL

I"m trying something new with the inline pics, where you can put text under them. The pics are not showing up for me so I'm going to add the same pics from Barb, here in the same order the old fashioned way. Refer to the post above to see the text that 'should' have been under them.

man, dee's on the ball. after all that, all you came up with was "she didn't answer the spice question"????

tough room, homey.

btw, great answers on the "6 guests" and "how would you be remembered" questions.

and you should make sure everyone in your family has a copy of the 4 generations pic. that's what it's all about.

Barb, had to tell you I really enjoyed the bio and pics! What a lovely family! I know they are very proud and should be for all of your attributes..Such a nice person and of course you can cook....Haven't been able to post as much as I like but have had some health issues that's prevented me from doing so as much as I would like. Do read the posts daily to keep up with all of the nice people here and wonderful cooks. Love this site. Have a wonderful week and again, it was a joy to read and see. Meme/Sheri:clap:

Hey, I like these spotlights. We get to know so much more about one another than we get from reading between the lines in our every day posts. Thanks for participating, HC, and Sass, and Keltin. I really like this new NCT dimension. Wonderful pictures, Barb. Your sharing is greatly appreciated.

Vera, Doc posted the pics in the second post of the thread.

Barb, I think you are the type of person whom everyone wants as a best friend! I sure do!

Another great spotlight!

Oh, and she said she wants salt as one of the few things she needs on a desert island. That's my favorite "spice", too!

It's really good having a "nosey" into others lives. Thanks Barb for posting.

Now that my mum has passed away, I too am an orphan. My youngest niece went around my mum's wake telling people that she was now a grand-orphan!! (Which actually wasn't true as her mother has three out of four parents still living!)
