20 oz. package lean ground turkey or chicken
1 Tbsp olive oil
1/2 head cabbage (about 1#) coarsely chopped
1 medium onion diced
1 clove garlic minced
1/2 tsp each: pepper, cinnamon, salt, fresh grated nutmeg
1 8 oz. can tomato sauce
Juice from 1/2 lemon

In a wok (preferred) or large skillet brown meat onion in oil adding garlic last as not to burn. Do not drain and add cabbage. It will look overwhelming at first but cooks down quickly. Continue cooking/stirring for about 20 minutes or until cabbage starts to get tender. Add sauce, lemon juice and spices cook another 5 - 10 minutes. Serve.

This I must try.
The addition of cinnamon and nutmeg sounds lovely.
Thanks!

Sounds magnificent....my mom would drop in gingersnap cookies instead of the cinnamon you are calling for. The sweetness makes this recipe, yes?

I made this tonight. Well, sorta.

I omitted the cinnamon and lemon, but made it more Polish by adding butter and dill.

I took a picture, but it didn't come out the way the dish looked.

Good lo-carb recipe!

Glad you liked it Lee. Honestly I do not know why people fuss with the prepared crap that's out there when you can whip a meal up like this with minimal effort.

I don't think I ever told him that I ever actually made it, but I did, and it was delicious just as it was, however, I wondered what it would taste like with a little sour cream... and it was so good Lee.
