View Full Version : NCT's Iron Chef 14: Battle Mushrooms

For Iron Chef 14, the secret ingredient is……..
Mushrooms!
As with the other ICs, this is a challenge to ourselves. There is no judging, and no winner. We are ALL winners in this since we will all benefit from the creativity and new recipes that this challenge will bring us.
The rules are simple, make any kind of dish you want, however you want. Drink, Appetizer, Main Course, Dessert, etc. The only stipulation is that you must use Mushrooms in some way in the dish.
Once your dish is ready, it’s a good idea to make a new post with your recipe. Then, post a link and a picture of your recipe to this thread. Alternatively, if you like, post your recipe and pictures here. In the end, we will compile all the results into one thread for easy searching.
Now, let Battle Mushrooms begin!

I always cook for two, so tonight I took an 8 oz package of Baby Portobello Mushrooms (Criminis) and made 2 dishes (4 oz each). You can easily take either of these recipes and double it (and beyond) if you choose.

Is it ok to pick favorites? Because the crostini look amazing.
Here's mine. I got a pound of Shiitake mushrooms for $5. I made fried rice with the mushrooms, bok choy and some purple onion:

That pizza is so incredible looking. Looks professional and straight out of a pizzeria! Wonderful job! I so need one of these now!!
Thanks Keltin! I found an unopened bag of dried shiitake from Costco in the pantry just the other day. I had completely forgotten I had these tucked away in the back since I bought them several months ago. I'm really glad the pizza came out the way it did. I wanted to add some spinach to it but I didn't have any last night......did not feel like running over to the market just for spinach.

I placed a handful of the dried shiitakes in a bowl and poured some boiling water over them and left them alone for 15 minutes as per instructions.
Yes, I love pizza crust, especially the ends. Next time I'll do pizza with no topping but for olive oil
