I am trying to change my User CP page so that it only shows new threads I am subscribed to and drops off subscribed threads that are read so that you have to click on list subscriptions to see them.
This keeps it much more organized and easier to handle for me. Can this be done?

Bump!!!
Also... Usually when I click on New Posts at the 'other' forum, I get several pages of threads that have new posts to them or are new... the pages go on until I get a message that says "the following threads have not been updated since you last logged on but contain unread posts'.
And lastly, up where it says User CP FAQ etc can we get a Portal button added on?
I think a lot of new threads are being pushed down and out of site when things are active and so being missed. By going to Quick Links and clicking on "todays post' I can search thru the pages and find em, but most probably don't know how to do that.
First off, sorry I missed this thread way back when you posted it on the 25th. :hide:
I belong to a linux forum that subscribed threads work that way, and it frustrates me. I prefer seeing all my subscribed threads. Read ones show up regular text and ones with new posts show up with bold text. I will see if that is a hack that is available or if someone is selling as it is not a feature built into VB as far as I know.
If someone else knows for sure please let me know.
It sounds like the other forum you are used to uses 'todays posts' for the new posts button instead of just new posts. And you are right, many folks do not know about the 'todays posts' option under quick links. That is very handy, if you know about it.
FYI: Once you do your first morning visit of the day you will see all the new posts from the preceding night when you click new posts. IF you are inactive for one hour, all those posts are considered read, and will not show up on your page when you click new posts. Lets say you were called away and had not had a chance to read all those posts. That is the time the 'Today's posts' button under quick links comes in handy. Click Today's Posts and you'll see all the posts for the past 24 hours. Very handy.
Myself, I like new posts and today's posts being different. How about you?
And lastly, up where it says User CP FAQ etc can we get a Portal button added on?
I do not know how to add portal buttons, but even if I did, I'm not sure what you are asking for here. I'm sure I can find out how to add them ... but where do you want one and what would it link to?

It would go before the User CP button and link you to the main page instead of having to use the smaller link above to navigate. It is just a convenience thing.
Thanks!

Oh, and how it worked on the User CP page: When you first go there it shows all the subscribed threads that have new posts on them. Then, when you click on the thread, read it, and go back to your User CP page, it no longer appears.
To see all subscribed threads you have to click on See All Subscribed Threads. This way once you have caught up on threads you are watching that part of your User CP page will be blank, then you can just click new threads and see all the new threads since you last logged on, and behind that all the threads you have viewed previously but were not updated since your last logon.
This is helpful if you don't log on everyday so you can scroll back thru the pages and see threads you may have missed.
Does that help?

I wouldn't mind a little convenience myself. For some reason the forum can never remember what the last post I read was. Well, sometimes it does, but most of the time it opens at the first post and I have to scroll down. It's worse here than another vb board I was at. It's probably something on my end, but it does it to all three computers.... and then it will work correctly for a short while.
mine will go to last posts on this site, then bounce up and back down several times. not every time, but it is annoying.
